Christ is Risen
A tragic and sad day appears to us upon the repose of our highly esteemed and well loved brother and concelebrant ARCHPRIEST MATTHEW MacKAY, 54, proistamenos of St Joseph Church in Houston, TX, Dean of East Texas and member of our Diocesan Council of Presbyters. Father Matthew suffered a massive and fatal heart attack early Monday, July 26th - the one year anniversary of the repose of our brother Archpriest James Kenna.
I was blessed to accompany Fr. Mathew (God rest his soul) to the Clergy symposium last week, going and coming back last Friday. He carried our Mission in his heart and worked for it greatly. He strongly believed that a true faithful servant must stand for what he believes but in a loving, humble and obedient heart to the CHURCH, THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Father Mathew will be always in our prayers, and he will celebrate with us every divine Liturgy from where he is now, closer to kingdom of God.
Our heartily condolences to His Grace Bishop Basil, his wife and children, our clergy brotherhood and to you all.
The funeral Services are as Follow: Wednesday, July 28th
Anointing and Vesting of Father Matthew by the Clergy
at the mortuary at 2:00PM
Thursday, July 29th
Transfer of Father Matthew to St Joseph Church
and start of the Vigil with continuous reading from the Gospels
(which is only interrupted during divine services).
The special Funeral Service for a Priest will be served at 7:00PM
Friday, July 30th
A Concelebrated Presbyteral Divine Liturgy will be served at 10:00AM
followed by
the usual Funeral Service, Interment and Meal of Mercy.
May his memory be eternal
